Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 (Microsoft Exam 70-480)

Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 (Microsoft Exam 70-480)

Welcome to my review of the Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 (Microsoft Exam 70-480) learning path from Pluralsight.

This is the 5th learning path in my 12 learning paths challenge, and I happen to have already watched many of the courses as part of the HTML5 and JavaScript learning paths.

I am not currently planning on taking the exam, so I won’t be reviewing it from that perspective, but from the perspective of what you can learn from the courses contained in this learning path.

Pluralsight’s recommended order of the courses is:

HTML Fundamentals 2h 13m
HTML5 Fundamentals 3h 56m
HTML5 Advanced Topics 2h 45m
Introduction to CSS 2h 09m
CSS3 In-Depth 6h 10m
Learning To Program – Part 1: Getting Started 3h 12m
JavaScript Fundamentals 2h 53m
JavaScript Design Patterns 2h 02m
Structuring JavaScript Code 2h 10m
jQuery Fundamentals 5h 18m
Total 32h 52m

This learning path is not very well ordered, with easy courses following much harder ones. It was ordered as “learn HTML, then CSS, then JavaScript”. However it is not quite so simple. For example, in order to learn HTML5 properly you also need to know some JavaScript. I suggest this alternative path:

Learning To Program – Part 1: Getting Started 3h 12m
HTML Fundamentals 2h 13m
Introduction to CSS 2h 09m
HTML5 Fundamentals 3h 56m
HTML5 Advanced Topics 2h 45m
JavaScript Fundamentals 2h 53m
jQuery Fundamentals 5h 18m
Structuring JavaScript Code 2h 10m
JavaScript Design Patterns 2h 02m
CSS3 In-Depth 6h 10m
Total 32h 52m
